Diego Zúñiga

This young author and journalist from Santiago de Chile had the opportunity to paint the simplicity of the Chilean middle class for everyone in his impressive and powerful debut, ’Camanchaca’. It follows the road trip of damaged young man and his family through the Atacama desert, on the way to a dentist to make sure his teeth don’t fall out. Zúñiga uses fewer words than many Latin American literary authors, but this style underlines the atmosphere, silence, and the fog in this book. For this, he doesn’t need so many letters: ”The colour of the sky: orange, and maybe occasionally purple.”

Diego Zúñiga shares the stage with Rodrigo Blanco Calderón and Luis Felipe Fabre. They will be interviewed by door Luc de Rooy.
